Christmas Pageant

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Credit Union Christmas Pageant as it's going to be our first time to attend and witness the parade of the stars and Father Christmas a.k.a Santa Claus! Yup, that's what they call him here.

The pageant is a yearly event but we didn't go last year because of the hot weather. Last year also, they attempted the Guiness World Record for the largest Mexican Wave (unfortunately it did not get the numbers!). So this year it's attempting to organize the most carol singers (to count over 7,600 people) singing a carol! HHhhmm... Good luck! I don't think they can get the record because...

I'm viewing the weather forecast and it says the chance of heavy rain at around 9am is 94%. Nice! :(

Looks like Ethan will not see Father Christmas again this year!

No Shower Please...Gold Coast!

We'll be in Gold Coast tomorrow for our holiday and I'm a bit worried about the weather there...The chance of rain on some days are a bit high (I think we need to buy a raincoat for Ethan). Argh! How I wish it will just all be sunny days for the whole trip!

Nonetheless, I'm still excited ... even more now because I saw the myfun website! The theme parks are just really fantastic, I know we will have a superb and memorable family experience. I'm sure of this because Gold Coast is like the official holiday destination of Aussie families! LOL :D

There's only one medical drama television I watch and that is Grey's Anatomy. I just loooove everything in this show from the risky cases in the hospital to the turn of their individual stories and shocking courtships --and not to mention how I also like their scrub sets!

Normally when I watch TV series I also notice the clothes the artists wear but in this case I just admire their cotton scrubs especially in Meridith Grey and Alex Karev. I like how Meridith layer her scrubs with her signature maroon long-sleeve tee while Alex Karev is just really hot in his scrubs esp. when he's taking it off! LOL! Anyway, the two of them can really make the hospital uniform look better.

I guess medical nursing scrubs are becoming more fashionable these days because of the influence of these medical TV series. My friends in the medical practice who at the same time are such preppy dressers must be happy now coz the scrubs are getting pretty cool! :)

It's so true when they said that your kids will imitate everything you do or say! So I bought this toy so he can cook on his own and he won't beg me to carry him so he can take a look at what I am doing and then grab my wooden spoon while I'm preparing our food! :D

Allergic Reaction to Peanuts

ang sarap mo pa naman!

I started introducing Ethan to table foods since he was 9 months old so he won't be picky to what I'll give him, and since then it's been working well except last night!

I know I cooked several meals before which may contain nuts so I thought he's OK with it, but he's not!

Last night I cooked my favorite Kare-Kare! I normally just use the Mama Sita mix alone to this dish, but last night I added some peanut butter and shrimp paste for more flavor coz that's what I heard from a friend here! It tastes much better actually but now I know it's totally not good for Ethan! Arrgghh!

Following his meal 1/2 hour ago I noticed that he has some rash which I thought was a mosquito bite; and he's also been coughing -- puzzled as to why he will have a bite and coughing...I put him close to me and then I got really shock when I saw that there were more rashes on his skin! That's when we realized that he's having an allergic reaction!

Good thing there's no traffic here! In just a matter of minutes, we we're already at the ED! The doctor gave him zyrtec and prednisone and he was observed for 4 hours!

Hay! Thank God, Ethan is fine now!!!

We got home past 2AM so we welcomed Dave's birthday at the hospital's ED!!!

Scars Be Gone

Do you have a scar that you would like to be removed? Well, I do. I got this scar in an accident about 5 years ago. The scar is located a few inch above my right knee; I'm over the traumatic experience, but I still hate that I have a souvenir from that mishap and it sometimes affect the clothes I want to wear, especially when my scar was still new -- it was so awful!

But I know I have a way now to fix my scar as I'm reading about Celibre Los Angeles Laser Scar Removal -- they have the before and after pictures of the Scar Removal and Laser Tattoo Removal treatments they did and I'm amaze! Check it to see for yourself!

Yes! The wait is almost over! In 20 days we'll be in Manila to see our families again! My sisters; my new nephew and niece! I'm really excited, it's been almost 2 years and I really miss all of them! I miss also what Manila offers... lots of restaurants and starbucks, cheap haircut and spa; and big shopping malls that closes 10PM or even at Midnight! Hahaha!

I'm also excited to go to this wonderful resort that I found from a friend at Facebook. My sisters and I are planning to go here so we can have a real holiday and have an amazing time together! :D

What I really love about this season is the anticipation and preparation for the holiday -- you see before Christmas Day everybody is in festive mood and just happy; there are lots of parties - family reunion and office gatherings, but most of all, there's SHOPPING MADNESS! Hahaha! For me, this is the most exciting and fun part of Christmas! Whether to shop for yourself or to buy gifts for loved ones -- like family, relatives, godchild and friends!

I love going to big stores and Christmas bazaars to buy clothes and nice find items for presents! But what's scary and might ruin the holiday shopping spree is the limited budget to spend on! So here are some ideas which can help me and you stay "Merry" and "Happy" this season when shopping and buying Christmas presents!

1. Set a budget and make a Christmas gift list
List the people you need to buy gifts for and set a budget for each person, then add it all up. Work around your list and budget until you have a total which you can afford! Having a spending limit is a good idea, as it's easy to be carried away with buying stuff especially there are really so many eye-catching products in Bazaars!

2. Shop in advance and go to shops on Sale
Last minute shopping can make you spend more on gifts, while shopping early can be a way for you to find a good deal and cool items. It would be easy to keep an eye out on Sale too!

3. To be a hairstylist - I just like the idea of working in a beauty salon! LOL! So I guess I still kind of like it, I finished the basic course at Toni & Guy and I enjoyed it! I'm so pleased coz according to their Stylist Director I am good and I can train further and have a chance to work at T&G if I want to!

Greatest Achievements
1. My role now as a Mum is the most challenging and most fulfilling job ever! It's really hard but it's all worth it! :)
2. Being able to work as a Marketing Manager for a MNC. I miss this job! Next dream to be a CMO! Hahaha! I wish!
3. Getting paid to blog! I guess it's cool, so maybe you could call that an achievement right?

We joined the Celebration of Children Week 2009: Playground in the Park at Semaphore Foreshore last Friday. I'm glad I brought Ethan to this activity, it's his first time and he had lots of fun at the Baby Tent where he played and listened to the teacher's stories; and we got a few freebies too! :D

The one I really like is the "It's Rhyme Time" book, that the The Advertiser: The Little Big Book Club gave away to every kids; it has a DVD and a song book! I can sing rhymes and tell stories to my baby (similar to what we do at Library's Babytime), at our home!

Love the Flowers Here!

Since moving in Adelaide I noticed that people here are very interested in Gardening, there are lot's of nurseries and planters shops, even one of the large warehouse here offers wide selection of plants; and indoor planters, outdoor planters and garden planters. But who could blame them, the flowers here are really beautiful and lovely!!!

Thanks to the wonderful cold weather, many kind of flowers are blossoming here! I really appreciate that I can just pluck the flowers here to decorate our home! I just have to buy some more decorative planters or high-end planters to make it more classy!

Another interesting way to arrange fresh flowers at home is through the windows. Isn't it beautiful to have flowers when you glimpse your room window?! Oh I think the window box planter would be great to have as well!

We make over our hideout a.k.a. our home! We change our main furniture: lounge and dining table; and upgraded our TV to enjoy most our love for watching TV programs, sports and movies!

I'm really happy because compared to our last furniture, this is much better! This time at least we are paying for the items that we really like unlike the first one!

On my line of work before, I use PDF converter to send and print documents that are truly important and which can't be edited. Normally what we have in the office are just PDF reader, that is to open documents in PDF format.

Now there's a software available which I think lot's of professionals will be happy, it's an Adobe PDF where you can convert PDF to word documents or vice versa. This software also has a virtual printer, which can be helpful to our environment; with this you don't need to print in papers!

There was also a homeowner who was civilly liable or maybe even criminally liable after he shot a robber on his house, because apparently he could have just left his house safely and survive, without shooting! Weird huh?

So will you just let the robber get your expensive 50-inch flat screen LCD TV and other valuable possessions without a fight??? LOL!

That is why, to be safe, most of the house here have home security systems against burglary and security threats. Some even use advanced biometrics or keyless lock on their doors, where just like in the movies, they use their own fingerprint to open a lock for unbreakable security.

I guess keyless lock is much secure against break-ins, surely, intruders will not be able to set foot in your house ever!

Now I wish we have keyless lock for our home, coz we'll be in a holiday for a month!!!

I Miss My Wine and Cocktails!

The things we do for our baby! I gave up alcohol, sushi, coke, cigs, parties and other vices that I have when I got pregnant. I'm glad though I was able to quit smoking! ... But now, I admit, I really miss drinking!

Actually, I miss everything about drinking wine or cocktail drinks. It gives me pleasure because it feels good and it's relaxing, it's like I'm giving myself a treat at the end of a busy day, enjoying a few or more drinks with friends! Hahaha!

Now, here in Oz, I am thinking of buying a really good bottle of wine (maybe 2 or 3 bottles :D), buy a beautiful wine glass so I can have my "me" time every time I want! Hehe!

Oh! I have to think where to store and put my wine! So I think these wine glass racks or stemware racks would be so nice to have at home! The glass racks are lovely and so stylish, right?

Crowd Control at Events

I read about crowd control products and what came to my mind was the incident that happened about 3 years ago at Willie's show at Ultra, where many died because of the rush; when the gate opened for the show, people got carried away and suddenly everybody wants to get inside, immediately.

The show's security guards and crowd control personnel was not able to manage the masses and the most devastating thing followed...Now I think, maybe the show's venue security don't have enough stanchions and barricades to subdue the people, which could have helped a lot to have an orderly queuing at the gates.

Also I just realized, I've been to quite a few concerts and shows before, and frankly, the security is really not good enough. Maybe the events organizers of these huge shows doesn't put much concern on party security until this tragedy happened.

I hope party organizers learned their lessons from this, to ensure the protection and safety of all the people attending the event and not to underestimate the crowd, because they could really overpower the security guards.

On Teenage Series' School Lockers

Brooke's locker @ One Tree Hill

I've watched so many teenage series like One Tree Hill, OC and Gossip Girl -- there were a lot of scenes in the school where they are standing by on their lockers or whatever they are doing getting their books or gossiping, but I noticed that all their lockers are well decorated with posters, pictures, furs, arts and crafts!

I guess nowadays, school lockers serves not only as a storage place for your learning materials, but also a way to show your creative side, where you can express your self with cool and sometimes over-the-top designs!

Aside from that, it is also a hangout for quick socializing between classes! I've seen a lot of dramas in the locker with these teenage series and movies, believe me! Hahaha!

I remember our school don't offer lockers to students until I was already graduating, when our school HS building was renovated. We never even have a gym locker! GGGRRR! So imagine, we were carrying all our books everyday and clothes for volleyball practice every MWF! It was pretty heavy!

So the kids now are very lucky as more businesses are offering lockers for sale so the school can afford them! I only enjoyed having a locker for 1 year and I never got the chance to decorate my locker just like the series I've been watching lately.

I can only imagine, if I have a locker during that time, I'm sure it will be so delightful! =)

It's both funny and surprising to me that there is a forum like this, but from what the members said, being a Pickup Artist developed their confidence, they said they become more sociable and comfortable to themselves and more desirable to women!

Good-Looking Watch for Men

I told my hubby before that when we were still going out/ dating, I used to simply look into his watch and shoes, like I want to know if his style or taste is good and if I will be impressed! Haha! I know this is a habit also of most women!

Aside from its function, I think a good-looking watch is important because it makes a man look more sophisticated. If they want to impress someone, I'm sure it would add a lot of suave points!

And since most men know that women loves shoes (aside from bags and jewelries). We also check on our man's shoes, we check if it's nice and tidy, as it also completes a man's whole outfit whether he really looks good or not!

For me these are the two important things a man should splurge on (hihi!) and they don't need to wear other jewelries (aside from their wedding ring, of course)! For me (again!) jewelries are for women only!

I wish we have Satellite TV!

I am quite disappointed with our Cable subscription, we have so many channels but I can't seem to find anything to watch, and if there's any, most of the time they were old programs already! There are also extra charges if we want to add more channels!

I miss HBO and Star Movies!! We paid extra for Showtime movie programs, but there's nothing much to watch too.

Oh! MTV is also not included in our basic package that's why I can't watch The Hills! Good thing though, my hubby told me I could watch it on his mobile phone! LOL! The TELCO provider here offers it for free! HEHE!

But how I wish we can have SAT TV like Direct TV channels so I can enjoy over 200 channels including 31 movie channels like HBO, Cinemax and other Hollywood programs!

Aside from these movie channels, I like direct television because it costs less than cable, the picture quality are better as they have more HDTV programming and there are lots and lots of program choices compare to cable! I also read that included on the directtv service is a free SAT TV equipment, installation and DVR! Ain't that cool?!

And my guess is right! They have online games even for infants! One of the game is Laugh and Learn Peek-A-Boo where the animals are popping out and back and plays peek-a-boo when he presses the keyboard. It's amazing, Ethan is having fun and learning!

Nice Budget Hotel in Manila

I am looking forward to our holiday in the Philippines this December, but one problem we are worrying about is where to stay in Manila during the first few days. Although my sister offered her Condo unit, we are not sure if this will be available upon our arrival as her tenant may extend the lease.

With this concern, I am considering Jupiter Suites in Makati, they offer free breakfast and internet access on their accommodations and they offer free airport transfers for guests staying for 2 or more nights.

Their location is very ideal too! I like that it's near Makati Avenue hotels where there are lots of establishments to check out like restaurants, bars and spas; and just a short drive away are the shopping centers I really miss -- Glorietta and Greenbelt!

I reckon this is the best hotel deal that we can get, they have spacious rooms with ready internet access and they provide complete room amenities like other hotels.

Spring has Sprung!

I love this season, even if the temperature is a bit cold -- it is tolerable because the sun is shining! I like that flowers are blooming and it's really wonderful to go outside!

In this celebration of the season, I thought I'd share some of the things I'm looking forward to this Spring with family and friends!

1. Picnic at the park - cook some barbies; nature walk; and to just lie on the grass
2. Lazy days at the beach - a walk on the beach; to read a good beach book; and just enjoy the sound of the waves and maybe wait for the sunset.
3. Go Crabbing! - great recreational activity and later enjoy a really good crab meal like crab omelet ! :)

Here is my entry for the Nuffn ang Coles Group & Myer: How Do You Turn $10 into $100? contest! I took challenge 1, which is to spend $10 in the most creative, interesting or fun way.

What I did is I recycled empty cans to use as a flower vase, "coins/change" bank and pen holders! I got this idea actually at Cosmopolitan Magazine and I reckon this is a cool way to put some decor on my display shelving (which I won at eBay!).

So in order to use the empty cans, I bought at Coles a really nice piece of gift wrapper worth $5.95. The rest of the items are all already available at home like the scissors, magic tape, flowers in the garden and of course the empty cans!

I just wrapped the cans with the wrapper I bought at Coles and taped it! Piece of piss!

Staying Connected with Skype!

I admit, even before I got here in Oz, my sisters and I seldom see each other, except for the last-minute plans of going to our home in QC (if we're free). We're the type who won't be too bothered if one of us would not be available to join a family get-together, if you have other plans. We know that it's really hard to get everyone together because each one of us has her own family now.

That's why I am very pleased at Skype! Although we don't see often and especially now that I'm here, our communications are still on a daily basis because of these technologies (Yahoo, Skype and sometimes Chikka). I am able to chat with them and even see my new niece through a webcam.

I still remember when we were all still single and available! We will have our endless chikahan about anything at home, sometimes until the wee hours of the morning when we have so much stories to tell...oh yeh, I guess that's what happens when you're all girls in the family! Hehehe!

With Skype, it's like that time again even when we're a thousand miles away!

Scott Foley - I first watched him at Felicity (year 1998); while watching that, I'm actually torn between Scott Speedman and him. His role then as Noel is too good for me, so if you're up for some excitement you'd go with Ben (Speedman).

I choose him now because I watched him again at The Unit where he plays as Bob Brown or callsign Cool Breeze when they're on a mission. I bet you will agree that he's definitely much hotter now, he still is the 'good boy' with a very irresistable smile, but with a bit of an edge because of his mature role! :)

Wentworth Miller - I'm sure you know him! He's known as Michael Scofield or 'fish' at Prison Beak. I so looovve this series. Not only he's very striking on that series, he's very romantic too without beeing gooey! I reckon that makes him more HOT! LOL!

Pilates: My Solution

I am NOT one of the lucky ones who can easily shed weight for a couple of weeks or months after giving birth, although they said breastfeeding helps a lot, my extra pounds seems to linger longer than it should, so I need to put more effort to lose these extra pounds!

To start my weight loss program, I got these 2 PILATES DVDs which I will try to do/follow everyday!!! I chose PILATES because when I was still a member of Fitness First, this is one of their group work-outs/classes that I really, really enjoy! I like that it's mostly concentration, working on the "powerhouse" and about proper breathing, thus I find this exercise less strenuous.

I reckon those people who just magically fit into their old skinny jeans after a few weeks of giving birth are truly blessed and endowed! How I wish I have their body type! As for me, lots of hard work and discipline is necessary! Just wish I could wear again my size small clothes this December! =)

Love The Sweet Strawberry

I've eaten strawberries before, when we go to Baguio or when someone brings it home from there. But I guess I never really enjoyed strawberries until I tried it here in Oz. This is because strawberries in Baguio is not that sweet, often it's even sour. And if you're down on luck, you will be tricked by vendors -- they would put the fresh picks on top while at the bottom, were all spoiled.

I guess the strawberries here in Australia is my new favorite fruit after our very own Philippine mangoes (especially the one from Zambales)! Yummy!!!

Aside from the sweet taste, strawberries are high in folate pala so it's good for expectant mothers and it has more than Vitamin C than orange (it's good news for me coz I don't like orange)! It's also the richest fruit source of antioxidants and best of all it's high in dietary fibre & one of the lowest calorie fruits available so it's an excellent dietary food! :D

Generation A...A for Allergies!

I read this article about a 5-year old boy who cannot eat...anything! He is allergic to all foods! The nutrients that he needs are pumped directly to his stomach and the only thing that passes to his mouth is water and a certain brand of lemonade according to the article.

The experts said, the current generation of children now are called 'Generation A' because of the increasing number of allergies! And I reckon that this is may be true, because Ethan also have some allergies, like cradle cap and rashes on his face, which I think is eczema but the GP said it's not.

At last though, after applying sorbolene cream, the dryness of his skin improves. Looks like the sorbolene cream will be Ethan's friend for a while -- to stop him from scratching his head and face. Aside from the cream, I also kept his fingernails short or I would put his mittens on so he will not hurt his skin. As I read in one of the article, avoiding the trigger of itching should be the priority!

Yesterday, I asked my sister about how my niece is feeding (as she just introduced solid foods to her) and she said that my niece is allergic to potatoes! Her face and arms were flushed! Now I hope that's the only food she's allergic to.

Unfortunate 'Generation A' -- that is our children, they should be more careful with what they eat, I know a lot of environmental factors are affecting them now, too.

Anyway, as for Kaleb's case, I wish that his doctors will find a cure to his mysterious 'allergy' so he can eat his cake on his next birthday and enjoy eating sumptuous food with his family.

I was feeling a bit antsy for the past couple of weeks because of what happened to my purchased item at eBay. It turns out, the designer handbag that I won at this online auction was inauthentic! But before this thing happened, I was bidding on small items such as baby toys and other stuffs that are as new (which means they are still in immaculate condition). And my experience for these bids, when I won, were all excellent and successful. All the items were as described and everything works accordingly.

So, it's right to say that I gained confidence on bidding at eBay. But it appears that I should have been more careful, because I got ripped off!

The seller assured me that it's authentic and she even said the amount of the item when she purchased it, and she's just selling it to pay for her holiday! WhichI believe, b'coz I think that was reasonable. In short we closed the deal and I paid through Paypal ( as they highly recommend it when buying an eBay item). It's good I followed this, because I almost paid the seller thru a Direct Deposit! This will help me later to recover my money.

When I got the bag, I really thought it was authentic because the leather looks real and it smells good! But little did I know, my excitement will be over in a heartbeat.

As I checked every detail of the bag: the pull-out book and the authenticity card, I realized that something is off, because the serial number is different from what she said. I also tried to peel the serial number sticker and I was able to remove it, easily (which according to the ebay guide, the sticker can't be removed intact)!

Right then, I was 90 percent sure that I received a fake bag (the other 10 percent is just trying to convince myself, that it's not). I was so upset and I feel so stupid, I cried! I feel sick to my stomach, thinking of the money I wasted for an imitation bag!

At first, I felt hopeless after emailing the seller and not receiving any feedback. I also read a report on the limitation of Paypal's buyer protection. Good thing, I still decided to open a dispute at Paypal's Resolution Center, because after more research at Paypal, I found out that Paypal do put payments 'in-held' status in case of payment refund, if there's a dispute. I was so relieved when I read this! I immediately called their customer support to verify this and I requested for an email, assuring me that my payment is indeed on-hold.

After 2 emails and still no feedback from the seller, I escalated the dispute to a claim. The seller didn't also respond to PayPal, and so, after almost a month of worrying, I was able to get my money back in full!

This experience thought me to be more careful and not too trusting! I am also so thankful to one of the Power Seller and Top Reviewer of eBay from the US, she helped me verify that the bag is inauthentic and she offered support to help me with Paypal requirements.

From now on, before bidding -- all the items (esp. designer bags) will be carefully checked and verified! I don't want this to happen again...nakakaloka!

Baby Touch and Feel

It's really good that there are baby books available to borrow here at the library: they're new, I have many choices and best of all it's free!

I know this will help Ethan get a huge start in learning to read! I noticed Ethan is really attracted at the pictures and colors though he's not that interested on the textures, yet. Maybe next time! Experts say that baby books that show large, bright images and have tactile 'touch and feel' objects are perfect for a young baby's development.

Now, I just have to be patient to read him these books on a daily basis!

Ready to Say Goodbye

I got to watch Kris eulogy and it is very heart breaking and touching! I cried when she shared her last moments with her mom together with her sister and on how they will forever share that "most painful" memory. I sobbed when she said she lied to her mom that they will be ok so she can be free from all the pain. Kris said also it would take a “lifetime” before the family could get over their mother’s passing.

This morning I can't help but cry as I remember my baby's last moments too. It's also the "most painful" memory that my hubby and I will share. Before she passed away she already had 4 cardiac arrest and the doctors resuscitated her back to life very aggressively to the point where they opened her again... I know now my baby was still fighting then because we won't let her go.

After her fourth arrest the doctors told us that my baby's chances to live are very very slim and if she survives she may not be the same Iya that we know who's very cheerful and happy.

The arrests increases a lot of complications in her brain and other organs. She was in too much pain and she's really tired of what she had undergone, and she's just a baby!

We made the most painful decision when we agreed for a DNR to limit the time to resuscitate her. My cousin who was also Iya's Pedia, advised us as parents that although it's very heartbreaking, we must not only think about our fear to lose her, but to think also of Iya's (quality of) life.

I knew then that we need to accept God's will, and let her go...

We told our baby how much we love her and how we will miss her. I remember whispering to her that it's ok kung hindi na nya talaga kaya, I told her I'm sorry I know how tired she is and that she can rest. I told her she will be in heaven with Jesus and the other angels and I will see her again soon when it's my time. I thank her for coming to my life and making me so happy.

We were at the recovery room that time and our families are waiting for us in the waiting area. It was already 10PM then, so we said to Iya that we'll just go outside to say goodbye to them. When we went back to the recovery room about 11PM, I told Iya dito na kme ni papa...and after just a few minutes Iya had her fifth arrest, this time the doctors resuscitated her in a limited time and then I saw the flatline and heard the chilling flatline sound of her heart monitor... she was gone. The nurse told us that our baby waited for us. My hubby and I just embraced each other, it was hard to believe and accept but we know her pain is over and she will be in peace.

Iya didn't let go until we are ready to say goodbye to her. It's going to take a "lifetime" to cope with the pain, as the pain of losing someone you love will never lessen but learned to be dealt with. It's also the consolation that our baby, I believe, is really in a better place now.

God has greater reasons and I may still not understand why it happened but I know in time I will... I'm just happy now that I have an angel watching over us and we are blessed with a new baby boy who's turning 5 months on Monday.

Anyway, I reckon I am a bit lucky having won so many raffle prizes before! From washing machines, printer, digital camera, PSP and hotel accommodation in Cebu (should be HK pero na-kontra ni hubby!) Won these prizes because my name or number was picked! It's not much but I still consider myself swerte sa raffle. Hehe!

Ethan's first 3 months

My bubba is growing fast! He weighs 3.8kg and 52cm in length when he was born and now he's 6.4kg and 63.5cm long! I've been seeing also all the social and emotional developments that I read... He watches me when I talk, he smiles a lot and last night he started laughing while hubby is singing nursery ryhmes! (too bad I was not able to record it because I was cleaning the toilet!) hehehe!

Co-sleeping and sleep positioner

We just got this adjustable sleep positioner for Ethan because he's co-sleeping with us. It really is much easier to put him to sleep this way but when I'm breastfeeding him he sleeps on his side making us worried that he might roll his body! This positioner will help to keep him safe and comfortable on his back or at least on his side at night ... now I'm not (or shall I say) less worried! :D

Unpleasant experience at Swarovski shop

The sales lady from the Swarovski shop kind of ruined my joy of owning this earrings. Her unpleasant manner is really annoying!

The Swarovski shop was on sale yesterday so there were really a lot of people that you've got to have a number and have to wait to be served. So after I looked at a few pieces I finally decided that I like the earrings, at the counter I told her to put it aside first because my husband is just on the other shop and then she look at me and said "Oh your husband is paying for this?" in a very bad tone...I just ignored it coz I don't want to make a big deal out of it then after a few minutes I came back with my hubby to get the item, she made another uncool remark, she was telling the other sales lady that I waited for my husband coz he's the one paying for the earrings! I was a bit embarrassed and I still ignored her comment because I don't want to be disrespectful, I just replied that "Yeah, it's because of the card"....... GGGRRRR!!!

I am actually thinking of filing a complaint because I'm still a bit ticked-off. That sales lady doesn't know me and it's definitely none of her business if my husband is buying me an earrings and honestly I'm the one paying for the earrings but it's because we have a joint account that I need his card to pay for it! GGGRRR!!!

60 Minutes feat. Brave Heart

Last night we chanced upon Levi McCormack's Brave Heart story at 60 minutes. He's like our baby angel Iya -- he's so full of life and very adorable. Dave and I were both feeling for the baby and the parents as they share their battle for their son's life.

This morning I still can't forget about Levi, he said that he wants to run and win a race someday... I really hope and pray that he gets well and have a normal life like the other kids.

This holy week will be one big boring holiday for us in a sense that we're not going anywhere but stay home and just eat a lot and probably watch a movie marathon! We wanted to go here but unfortunately after browsing the site -- looking for possible things to do, it seems that the long trip and the relaxing strolls will not be easy if you're carrying a 1 month old baby... It's not a good idea coz we don't have a yaya!

I just miss Manila more now that it's holiday! Holy week is the time for me to repent, reflect and be thankful... It is also the time for me to relax -- enjoy the sun, the beach or swimming pool (hehe!) and have a revitalizing massage!

Oh well... I'm still hoping we can do something else next week. hehe!

I will have the Prostaglandin Gel Tonight!

Tonight is the night that I will be induced! I will be at WCH to have the prostaglandin gel because I'm 1 week overdue, I will be having one gel tonight and possibly another one tomorrow morning (if it's not enough)!

I'm really hoping and praying now for successful induction, safe delivery and everything to be fine! I'm so excited coz (tonight or maybe tomorrow) I can finally see and hold my baby! :D

Prostaglandin Gel for Induction?

I'm still pregnant! My baby is still enjoying his time inside my womb! That's why I'm posting about this trial medication that Australia is offering called Prostaglandin Gel, this is used to ripen the cervix or induce labour. My midwife told me that they have a lot of pregnant moms who have done it and their labor starts safely and baby is fine too! She said that it's actually a routine in Denmark now and right now they are trying it here. The hospital where I will be delivering, needs to try this offer to 600 patients and right now they had about 200 patients who have done it.

I was OK when I heard about this and open to try it earlier but after reading this... I'm not sure anymore! But if I don't go into labour this week, I need to choose between having this one (along with breaking the waters) or the oxytocin drip for induction.

It's up for me to decide! I just wish I could be in natural labour this week so I don't have to choose to either of these inductions!

We're now 3 years together as a married couple but 6 years all in all including when we're just BF&GF :)

We celebrated yesterday at Zak's Cafe-Restaurant-Ouzeri, this is not actually our favorite restaurant (in fact, we don't have a favorite resto here in Adelaide) because the food/restaurants are still much better in Manila when it comes to variety, taste, service, ambiance and everything!

Anyways to my hunnie... happy 3rd anniversary ulit! I thank God for you and our family, I Love You! Mwah!

Iya's One Year in Heaven...

Today marked the first year of my baby Aleah/Iya passing on to the next life... in Heaven. She was exactly 1 year 6 months and 29 days old when she passed away. I can't believe it has been a year since she left us, sometimes it still seems very recent because the pain I feel is more gripping.

I miss her a lot and I would still remember the days when we were in the hospital -- my last embrace to her before the nurse induced her by an anesthetic and carried her to the OR, the awful moments when she was in the recovery room and the day I went to the morgue to get her body. These were all painful vivid memories that I pray I would overcome, to just remember that there were in fact more good memories to cherish and to thank God for his love and comfort when we were at the lowest point in our lives and that He allowed us to be superbly happy and gave us the chance to give our baby unconditional love in this life.

It's been a year now and I always pray that my baby is in peace and happy in Heaven with God and that someday we can be together again. To my dear Iya, I love you so much, the time we've spent together were the best moments of my life and you will always, always be in my heart.

I got "afternoon to evening sickness" (yes, not morning!) during the first months of my pregnancy and I was really not fond of any food. I get dizzy and I feel like I'm going to throw up when I am cooking. I really hate the smell of food and even more eating it. I guess I got so sensitive and overwhelmed by the smell of food when I am cooking our meal.

So when I am asked what did I like during the first months ... I said none because I really couldn't eat any food!

Strange thing though because I think I got interested to a person and not in food! hehe! His name is Karl Stefanovic, he's a news reporter at Today Morning News/Show at Channel 9. I always watch that news every morning just to see him while I'm preparing our brekky and Dave's lunch. I just enjoy watching him and I even get disappointed if he's not around! Oo, may time na madalas absent sya! lol!

I guess I could say he's the one that I strangely like or "pinaglihi-an" because I don't watch this morning show anymore! hehe!

Missing Taro Ice from Quickly!

This is the drink that I missed most! Actually, there are 2 stores here that sells tapioca milk tea, the one is near our home but the taste is not good as Quickly and they don't have puddings but only pearls. The other one is in China Town but it's more disappointing because it's not even on ice, it was just an ordinary cold milk tea!

I got addicted to this after giving birth to Iya, a really bad habit coz I'm not supposed to have cold drinks! Pero matigas ang ulo ko! My hubby and even Iya enjoyed this drink a lot too. Hay, nakaka-miss!

Fisher Price Bath Center... good or not?

We went to another sale yesterday...this time it's Target's Bumper Babython and I'm really glad we went because I now got the Fisher Price Rainforest Bath Center at a lower price! Aside from its very nice color and the toys that comes with it I really think this is worth the money because my baby can use it until he's a toddler!

Although I read some few disappointing experience from this product, I am still positive it won't be the case with me because there are still more Mum's who are saying it's the best and an excellent purchase! The cradle sling position looks really good, secure and comfortable for newborn which is so important for me knowing I will be the only one who will bathe my baby when my hubby starts working back again! (He will only be on leave for 2 weeks after I give birth!)

Shopping for Baby Ethan

Last Saturday we started to do an early shopping for baby essentials while IKEA and YCN are still on Holiday Sale! At first me and my hubby kept on disagreeing on what to get but afterward we finally settled! Hay!

First on our list is the Car Seat because we can't take home our baby from the hospital if we don't have this! They will not allow babies to be carried only! We bought the Safe n Sound convertible car seats which means it can be used as a baby car seat to a toddler car seat.

Second is the Stroller which they call here Pram, the handle can be reversed and it has a multiple position backrest so it's more comfy for the baby -- this is very similar to Graco (w/c I used with Iya) that's why I like this!

Third is the PortaCot, we got the one with a sound/light/vibration unit! YCN also offered an extra mattress because we're worried that the comforter we're thinking of adding to the cushion they provide may cause overheat to the baby. And they're also honest that it's not safe to use for a baby!Fourth is the OiOi Baby Bag... I found out about this bag in Sydney used by my friend Pat. It's quite expensive but I know that aside from the stylish look this will be durable! Hehe i-justify ba! :D

Among other things we bought are the AVENT sterilizer, drawer, baby clothes to take our baby home, cot sheets, blankets and others! I'm also actively looking/bidding at eBay for toys and asked my sister to buy baby clothes for me in Manila coz it's really expensive here!

I'm back from Sydney!

I just got back from our holiday! :) I'm still tired from our trip, I never imagined I would easily get tired! My legs and feet hurts after our tour and half-day shopping at Bondi Junction! I guess I'm really too heavy now! hehe!

Because of this we only went to one of our tour - Sydney Sightseeing and Bondi tour and we cancel our Blue Mountain and River Cruise tour. I can't really risk my pregnancy as the tour will go to different places and we'll do several gentle bushwalks... which may not be so gentle to me! I'm a bit disappointed though because I'm really excited to see the Three Sisters rock formation and enjoy a relaxing cruise along Parramatta River! Anyway, I just hope I can go back to Sydney again next time. :)

Fish oil for smart bubs

Now that I'm 28 weeks, my midwife recommended I start taking Fish Oil supplements for the benefit of my baby, she said that based on an Australian study they believe that babies who have got fish oil vitamins while in the womb will have better motor skills than those who did not.

I researched about it and found that it is probably true, it says that women who take fish oil during the last 20 weeks of pregnancy may give birth to children with improved eye and hand coordination, language skills and behavior. It said that it can also prevent pregnancy depression and postpartum.

"The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil are thought to be responsible for this beneficial effect of eating fish. The two major omega-3 fatty acids found in fish are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). DHA is an essential building block of the brain and nerve tissue. EPA may act to optimize the electrical signals between nerve cells and brain cells and may help the immune system to function well." - NCCAM

However, it says that we should be careful to get the best quality, instead of cheap ones. One should look for a pharmaceutical grade, product that comes from healthy fish caught in pristine clean waters, then is quickly processed for purity and packaged under strict pharmaceutical conditions. Brief Review: Blind Submission

Finished this book 12 days ago, I really enjoyed reading the mysterious storyline! The interesting characters and the "action" happening inside the literary agency makes it all more smarter and funny. I like the different twist of the book and of the characters, it will keep you guessing until the last page!

Today is my father's birthday. He would have been 69. We lost him a decade ago to heart complication. I think of him most especially now that my hubby's having a problem and his Dad is very supportive.

How I wish my father is here too...

I know I can depend on him and he will give us the best advise and help us. He is strict that's why we're often scared to approach him but I know even he may not show it, he loves us so much and wants only the best for us.

I love and miss you Pa! Happy Birthday!

Glucose Tolerance/Challenge Test

I remember how I hated the feeling when I had the Glucose test when I was pregnant with Aleah! I really felt sick and how I want to throw up then! I feel like I was being tortured! He-he!

I realized now that there are 2 tests ... Tolerance and Challenge! What I had before is the Tolerance, which is more difficult!

The tolerance test takes 2 hours, first they took a blood sample to measure the level of sugar when I was fasting which will be their baseline. They then asked me to drink a very sweet, sugary mixture (parang 1 1/2 cup na asukal at tubig...lol!) and then 2 hours later they took a blood sample again to test the measurement compared to the normal range.

Tomorrow I will have the challenge test... it will take only 1 hour but I still have to drink a glucose solution (it's going to be lesser, I hope!) Then an hour later a blood test will measure the glucose in my blood using a blood glucose meter.

Good luck to me! Most of all I pray that everything is normal :)

Trusting God

I got this email message today from my ex office-mate and it's just very timely... right now we are confuse and sometimes regretful with our decisions (I feel that we made a lot of mistakes) but I still try to believe that He has great plans and every question we have will be answered... in His time.

I read today "Don't waste time in worrying about the things beyond your control." Things may not always be at our favor but never mind...in His time, things will fall into its proper place ..at God's favor for you... :)

We may look back and say to ourselves that 'I should have done that, said that...or stayed, or left ....If at times, you felt you make the wrong decision...we can always be assured that God will correct them somehow..somewhere.." We just continue to praise Him even in harsh circumstances...

Giving Thanks in Everything

Why would God command us to thank Him regardless of the circumstances? The idea defies human logic.But then, the Lord rarely binds Himself to man-made rules. Scriptural principles serve specific purposes in the Christian's life.Gratitude keeps us aware of God's presence, which builds our trust and ultimately strengthens our witness.

We must realize that thankfulness is not based on emotions or a situation's outcome. We can be grateful, even during trials, because the Lord has promised to work everything for our good. (Romans 8:28) That means He has a purpose for every experience,pleasant or difficult. A big problem stacked against our small resources sends us running to Him, thankful He has committed to work it to our benefit.

The believer's part is to trust God will bring good from trials and to discover His plan, which gives further reason for thanking Him. Understanding His intentions renews our strength for facing difficult trials. Expressing gratefulness changes our attitude about God, ourselves, and our situations. Most people allow hurt and stress to form a pessimistic mindset, which negatively impacts every facet of their life. But believers have God's Spirit working within to provide courage and a flow of thanksgiving.

When we demonstrate thankfulness in harsh circumstances, other people pay attention. Our coworkers, family, and friends will want for themselves the peace and energy we derive from a grateful relationship with the Lord.So whatever you experience today, go ahead and defy logic—praise God.

I got the 3 books I reserved at the library!!! With all the time that I have, reading is one thing I really enjoy now being a housewife! I know this is a good time to enjoy my "me-time" coz in just 3 months I'll be a busy mom again! I'm really both excited and worried because it will just be me and my hubby together (no yaya or maid!) and my mom doesn't want to come here! huhu!

Anyways, since I don't know that many authors and don't have patience to search in the huge library collection, I just get the book suggestions at Marie Claire (late issues) on their Must Read Books for the month and I will search it at the library database and request it... it's faster and most likely that the book will be worth to read! :D

Weekend @ Barossa Valley

I finally got to go to Australia's most famous wine region -- The Barossa! I had fun even though I was not able to join the wine tasting... huhu! I know I should be able to, I could just spit the wine after but decided not to coz I may not resist the urge to drink! Hehe!

Because of that deprivation (hehe!) I just enjoyed all the sceneries... the stunning landscape of hills, rose garden and vineyards!

After our stopovers to different cellar doors we had lunch at the Whispering Wall, it's called that because it can allow one person to whisper at one end and have another one person hear your whisper more than 100 metres away!

Last week I got to see my baby for the second time thru an ultrasound! The sonographer said it's probably a boy! I'm so glad that the scan results are all good and normal!

Although I'm still a bit nervous because we're scheduled to have another scan to check on my baby's heart, to be sure everything is ok given the previous history... I really really hope and pray that all will be fine.

We can't believe it our internet bill is a whopping AUD312! It's way too high!!! We exceeded about 2GB of our limit! Aarrggh!!!

It's my fault coz I assumed that our internet usage has been reset for another 5GB but apparently it's not!!! And I've downloaded 2 chick flick movies (Definitely, Maybe and Made of Honor) ... now it's the most expensive movie that I ever watch! I really want to cry!

Iya's birthday

My baby turned 2 last Sunday and if only she's still here and we're in Manila, we will celebrate it at Jollibee coz I know she loves Jollibee! I still can picture her all excited and cheerful when she saw Jollibee's statue and TV commercials. I really love those moments when she's so happy!

I also can just imagine what she can do now if she's still alive...I'm sure Iya could walk, say more words now, be able to throw a ball and say I love you mama.
